The Seefalke is a fisheries protection boat of the German coast guard . The owner is the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE), which also manages the ship .

General

The ship, like the sister ship Meerkatze and the type ship Seeadler , serves as part of the Coast Guard coordination network to control fishing in Germany's Exclusive Economic Zone and outside of German sea waters as part of international agreements.

The fishery protection boat with its home port in Cuxhaven is designed to carry out the surveillance measures for the maintenance of fish stocks. The possible duration of use is approximately 28 days.

The Seefalke , which was put into service in October 2008, was built under hull number 559 at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast . The keel was laid on November 9, 2007, the launch on June 12, 2008. The ship was completed on November 4, 2008. The construction of the fishing protection boats Seefalke and Veratze cost around 63 million euros.

The Seefalke replaced the previous fishing protection boat of the same name .

Technical specifications

The ship is 72.8 meters long , 12.5 meters wide and has a draft of 5.15 meters. It is measured at 1981 GT. The load-bearing capacity is around 470 dwt.

Two MTU marine diesel engines of the type 20V4000 M73L with an output of 3600 kW each drive two variable-pitch propellers via gearboxes . Two electric drive motors from the manufacturer VEM Sachsenwerk of the type DKMAB 5018-6U with 1050 kW each can increase the drive power. In semi- diesel-electric operation, the ship reaches a top speed of 19.7  knots . It is also possible to use the electric motors alone . The maneuverability is ensured by a bow thruster with an output of 500 kW and a high-performance fin rudder. The sea behavior is influenced by a fin stabilization system.

Two generators with an apparent power of 1716 kVA each  and an emergency generator with an apparent power of 450 kVA are available for the power supply on board .

There are two rescue boats on board that the inspectors can use to transfer to fishing vessels. In addition, the ship is equipped with a 3.6 t working crane and a 1.25 t service crane.
