The Segler-Verein Braunschweig eV is a non-profit water sports association based on the South Sea in Braunschweig .
The association was founded on February 28, 1968. The Segler-Verein Braunschweig eV is one of the largest sailing associations in Lower Saxony and has around 420 members.
In 2013 the Segler-Verein Braunschweig eV was named Sailing Club of the Year at the Hanseboot and was recognized for its nationally important youth work in the training of sailing.
Since 1974 the Braunschweig Sailing Association has maintained a close cooperation with the sailing group of the Technical University of Braunschweig . This cooperation ranges from the joint use of the club's premises to joint training activities and regatta cooperations, which are represented at national and international level in different boat classes .
Since June 2019 the association has been running a long-term project with the Evangelical Foundation Neuerkerode in which people with intellectual and multiple disabilities learn to sail. The long-term goal is to participate in the Special Olympics 2023 in Berlin. Norddeutsche Rundfunk reported on the project in October 2019
Together with the Institute for Architectural Art (IAK) of the Technical University of Braunschweig , the association organized the art project "South Sea Islands" on the Braunschweig South Sea in June and July 2019.

The training offer of the association includes the following courses:
- Youngest Sailing Certificate (DSV)
- Sport boat license inland (SBF inland)
- Sport boat license See (SBF See)
- Sports Coast Ship License (SKS)
- Certificate of competence for pyrotechnic signaling devices (SKN, large pyro certificate)
- VHF radiotelephony certificate for inland waterway radio (UBI)
- Limited valid radio operating certificate Short Range Certificate (SRC)
Regattas
In addition to internal regattas, the children's and youth department is the organizer and also participant (national and international) in sailing regattas, the preferred boat classes here are Opti , Laser and 420er .
The Opti-Löwencup is sailed annually on the Braunschweig South Sea, in which other national sailing clubs also participate. The Opti-Löwencup is a regatta of the Torsten Muschkeit Cup, in which u. a. the sailing clubs Wolfsburg (Allersee), Gifhorn, Salzgitter and Altwarmbüchen are involved as organizers.
The paddler division of the association (Südsee-Drachen) takes part in paddling competitions nationwide.
