Flora Miranda (actually Flora Miranda Seierl ) (* 1990 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian fashion designer . Flora Miranda lives and works in the Belgian port city of Antwerp .

Life

Flora Miranda, who has been interested in fashion and art since school days, studied fashion design at the renowned Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen after graduating from high school . During her studies in 2013 she won Hi! How? Good! the Cocodrillo Shoe Award . They also belonged to the 63 fashion students, the chief designer Raf Simons in the haute couture -Show of Christian Dior in 2014 invited in Paris. After graduating with a master's degree, in 2014 she worked for the Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen before setting up her own label, Flora Miranda . In 2016 she was awarded the Outstanding Artist Award endowed with 10,000 euros . The designer mainly designs haute couture fashion, and in 2017 she also founded the ready-to-wear line ITpieces . Since 2018 she has presented her collections twice a year at the Paris Haute Couture Week . The desire to design for the stage was fulfilled with the cooperation with the Cologne Opera and the ballet choreographer Richard Siegal, which began in 2017/18 . The cooperation with the Swiss watch company Rado , initiated in 2017 by receiving the Rado Star Prize , brought Flora Miranda to the national and international media with the watch launched in 2019.

The main component of many collections is silicone, the designer uses the material in various ways, for example to wrap threads with it. In addition to new techniques with silicone, Flora Miranda is also developing new methods in the technology area to design clothes. She actively works with artificial intelligence, 3D scanning and algorithms to design fashion.

Fashion and technology

In her 2015 collection, Flora Miranda first dealt with the idea that the Internet frees the individual from control and that cyberspace is a place of individual development. The collection marks the beginning of a research that the designer has been pursuing ever since. Flora Miranda made her debut with “Pneuma” in January 2018 at the Paris Haute Couture Week. At this show, the designer staged a performance instead of a classic catwalk , which is her trademark to this day. For the designs of her Spring / Winter 2018 collection, the designer had antique clothes in museums 3D-scanned and, with the help of an algorithm, created her own digital design from the data , which she finally made by hand with silicone-coated threads. The LaLaLand collection was also based on a computer-aided design, while Cyber ​​Crack (created and presented in cooperation with Esther Stocker and Alec Empire ) addresses the influence of IT companies on personal life.
