Sempiternal Deathreign was a Dutch Death Doom band from Gouda that was formed in 1986 and split up in 1990.

history

The band was founded in November 1986 by singer and guitarist Frank Faase, bassist Victor van Drie and drummer Mischa Hak. The members were cousins. In 1987 a first demo was released, which was followed by a second under the name Creepshow in 1988 . The two songs Devastating Empire Towards Humanity and Unperceptive Life are also included on the debut album The Spooky Gloom , which was released in 1989. In 1990 the band split up. Some band members later joined Thanatos and Sinister .

style

According to the band biography on sempiternaldeathreign.com , the band was initially influenced by groups like Venom , Exodus , Metallica , Slayer , Destruction , Kreator , Sodom , Massacre , Celtic Frost , Cryptic Slaughter , Post Mortem , Candlemass and Black Sabbath . Later the band was influenced by albums like Psalm 9 by Trouble , Seven Churches by Possessed , Hymn to Abramelin by Messiah and Scum by Napalm Death . Especially because of Death's Scream Bloody Gore , the band decided on Death Metal . In addition, Victor van Drie liked slower bands like Swans and Gore and thus this influence was also processed. The band describes itself as one of the first Death Doom bands on the underground scene. According to Jon Kristiansen in the book Metalion: The Slayer Mag Diaries , the band plays a mixture of death metal and grindcore on Creepshow . Influences of Death and Napalm Death can be heard. According to Khlysty from globaldomination.se , the band plays Winter- themed Death Doom on The Spooky Gloom . The band play dirty, fast and ugly Death Metal, which is interrupted by slow, hardly grooving passages. In the songs, the guttural singing is usually in the foreground.
