Joël Perrault (born April 6, 1983 in Montreal , Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . He made 96 appearances in the National Hockey League (NHL) and played in the Swiss National League A (NLA) and in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
Career
Perrault began his career in the 1999/00 season with the Collège Antoine-Girouard Gaulois in the junior league QMAAA . From summer 2000 he played for three seasons with Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL . The attacker completed his first professional position with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the American Hockey League , for which he was on the ice for two seasons from the 2003/04 season.
In the summer of 2005 he moved within the AHL to the Portland Pirates , before he was transferred to the Phoenix Coyotes in the National Hockey League a little later in exchange with Sean O'Donnell . There, however, he received only five missions with the Coyotes and was mostly used in the then AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage . After a brief engagement with the St. Louis Blues and their farm team Peoria Rivermen , Perrault returned to Phoenix in the current 2006/07 season. There he was used in the following time alternately both in the NHL with the Coyotes and in the AHL in San Antonio . In May 2010, the EV Zug from the National League A signed the Canadian, but after only two months he made use of an agreed release clause for a move to the NHL and accepted a contract offer for a year with the Vancouver Canucks . In Vancouver, too, the attacker only received sporadic missions in the NHL and was mostly on the ice as assistant captain for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL .
For the 2011/12 season, Perrault moved again to Switzerland and was initially active for SCL Tigers before he went to league rivals HC Ambrì-Piotta during the current season . In the 2012/13 season, the right-handed shooter completed 20 games for the Finnish club HIFK in the SM-liiga . In December 2013 he was signed by the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League , where his contract was extended in the summer of 2014 to the end of the 2014/15 season.
After Perrault was temporarily without a club at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he joined the Dragons de Rouen from the French Ligue Magnus in December 2015 . In March 2016, he ended his playing career after winning the French championship, the French cup competition and the IIHF Continental Cup with Rouen in his final season.
