The Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (short: LHJMQ , English Québec Major Junior Hockey League , short: QMJHL ) is one of the three top Canadian junior leagues that make up the Canadian Hockey League . It is based in the province of Québec , but also hosts teams from the maritime provinces .

In addition to the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec, the OHL and the WHL exist in the Canadian Hockey League . In short form it is often La / The Q called. The league, which comprises a total of 18 teams for the 2013/14 season, will be played in three divisions with six teams each. Only players between the ages of 15 and 20 are allowed to play in the LHJMQ. However, each team has the option of deploying three players who are already 20 years old at the start of the season. These are called "Overage" juniors.

A total of ten LHJMQ teams managed to win the Memorial Cup , the official Canadian junior championship: The Remparts de Québec (1971, 2006), the Cornwall Royals (1972, 1980, 1981), the Prédateurs de Granby (1996), the Olympiques de Hull (1997), the Océanic de Rimouski (2000), the Saint John Sea Dogs (2011), the Cataractes de Shawinigan (2012), the Halifax Mooseheads (2013), the Titan d'Acadie-Bathurst (2018) and the Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda (2019).
