Sepp Frank (architect)

Sepp Frank (born September 25, 1942 in Vienna ) is an Austrian architect .

Live and act

Sepp Frank comes from an engineering family and was already involved in design activities as a teenager. After secondary school, he completed his architecture studies at the Vienna University of Technology in 1965 with architect Karl Schwanzer and then worked in Schwarzer's office. In 1967 he was admitted to a Master of Architecture degree at the University of California at Berkeley , where he later taught. When he applied for an immigrant visa, he was drafted and decided to return to Austria in view of the Vietnam War and became assistant to Professor Schwanzer at the Institute for Building Science. After completing his dissertation on the subject of "Measuring the Architectural Relation", he passed the civil engineering examination in 1972 and founded an architecture office that was converted into a civil engineering society in 1998 due to new legal possibilities .

Frank realized numerous residential and school buildings as well as industrial construction projects and hotels. In 1999 he was also in charge of the general renovation of the Ferry-Dusika-Hallenstadion and for several years the renovation of the Upper and Lower Belvedere and the Austrian Gallery located therein . In 2010 he created an overall concept for the renovation and use of the parliament building in Vienna .

He is married to the architect Andrea Frank.
