Sepp Oberkirchner

Sepp Oberkirchner , also Josef Oberkirchner , (born July 27, 1932 in Sankt Martin bei Lofer ; † July 24, 2018 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), trade unionist and SPÖ state party secretary in Salzburg. From 1971 to 1976 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1976 to 1989 a state councilor in the Salzburg state government .

education and profession

Between 1938 and 1946, Oberkirchner attended the elementary school in St. Martin bei Lofer and the secondary school in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer . He then completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker at the technical school for steel processing in Fulpmes from 1946 to 1949 and then worked in the profession he had learned until 1960. In addition, Oberkirchner was from 1954 to 1960 as a works council at the Waldstein foundry in Bürmoos , through which he was also the social academy of the Vienna Chamber of Labor in Mödling from 1959 to 1960 . In 1960 he changed his profession and entered the service of the metalworkers 'union, where he was employed from 1966 to 1970 as the state secretary of the metalworkers' union in Salzburg. Oberkircher became regional party secretary of the SPÖ Salzburg in 1970 and remained in this position until 1974. Later he was managing director of the Oberrain training center in Unken until 1996 .

Politics and functions

Oberkirchner joined the SPÖ in 1958 and was active within the party as deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ in the city of Salzburg. He was also a member of the state party executive from 1974 to 1989 and from 1978 to 1989 a member of the state party presidium of the SPÖ Salzburg. On May 26, 1971, he was sworn in for the first time as a member of the Salzburg state parliament, initially holding this mandate until May 21, 1974. From May 29, 1974 to November 1, 1976 he was again a member of the state parliament, and from 1974 to 1976 he was also the chairman of the SPÖ state parliament club. Oberkirchner was elected to the state councilor in the Salzburg state government on November 2, 1976 and remained in this position until May 3, 1989, as a member of the state government. From 1982 to 1989 he was regional chairman of the Salzburg Friends of Nature and was president of the Society of Rettet das Kind in Salzburg from 1981 to 2006. Furthermore, he was chairman of the supervisory board of GSWB from 1996 to 1998.
