Serafim de Sousa Ferreira e Silva (born June 16, 1930 in Santa Maria de Avioso ) is former bishop of Leiria-Fátima .

Life

Serafim de Sousa Ferreira e Silva was ordained a priest on August 1, 1954 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Lemellefa and auxiliary bishop in Braga on April 30, 1979 .

The Archbishop of Braga, Eurico Dias Nogueira , donated him episcopal ordination on June 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were António Ferreira Gomes , Bishop of Porto , and António de Castro Xavier Monteiro , Archbishop ad personam of Lamego .

In 1981 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Lisbon . On May 7, 1987, he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Leiria-Fátima. After Alberto Cosme do Amaral's retirement , he succeeded him on February 2, 1993 as Bishop of Leiria-Fátima. On April 22, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
