Seraphina Lenz (* 1963 in Münster ) is a German artist .

Life

Lenz was born in Münster. The family lived on a Kotten in the Münster area.

Her father, Otto Lenz , was a professor of art education at the University of Education in Münster and died in the early 1980s. Her mother worked as an art teacher.

Seraphina Lenz and her three siblings, including the DJs Maximilian (WestBam) and Fabian Lenz (DJ Dick), were brought up to be anti-authoritarian.

Career

From 1985 to 1986 she trained as a modelist at the Paris fashion college École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode (ESMOD). From 1987 to 1994 she studied sculpture at the Kunstakademie Münster , where she was a master student of Reiner Ruthenbeck .

In 1996 she was given a teaching position at the Art Academy in Münster. In the same year Lenz received a scholarship from the Künstlerdorf Schöppingen Foundation . Lenz has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Berlin since 1997 . In 2000 Lenz was a visiting professor at Yokohama State University , where she also put on her first solo exhibition. Since 2001 she has been realizing exhibitions and projects in public spaces. From 2001 to 2005 she worked on the BLK research project on cultural education in the media age at LISUM . In 2008, Lenz and six other artists founded the project oqbo - space for picture word ton in Berlin's Brunnenstrasse - as a project space for exhibitions, discussion series, readings and music performances. In 2010 Lenz was a teaching artist at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and from 2011 to 2013 a lecturer at the Institute for Art in Context at the University of the Arts Berlin .

An important theme of her work is the creation of urban spaces. From 2003 to 2010, her artistic design concept for the Workshop for Change addressed the use of the Berlin Carl-Weder-Park . In September 2014 she initiated the art project Glamorriese as a “musical revue with dance, text, sound and vision”.
