Seraphino Antao

Seraphino Antao (born October 30, 1937 in Mombasa , † September 6, 2011 in London ) was a Kenyan sprinter who also started in the 110-meter hurdles .

His family was from Goa . In 1957 he broke the Kenyan records over 100 yards and 220 yards.

The following year he was eliminated from the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958 over 220 yards in the quarter-finals and over 100 yards and in the 4-by-110-yard relay in the run-up.

At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he reached the semi-finals over 100 m and the quarter-finals over 200 m . He failed over 110 m hurdles in the preliminary run.

He celebrated his greatest successes two years later at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in 1962 . He won over 100 yards and 220 yards and finished fifth on the Kenyan four-by-440-yard relay.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he was in poor health over 100 m in the run and over 200 m in the quarter-finals.

In 1962 he became English champion over 100 yards and 220 yards.
