Sergei Istomin

Sergei Istomin ( Russian Сергей Истомин , scientific transliteration Sergej Istomin ) is a Russian musician ( violoncello and viola da gamba ).

Life

Istomin began studying the cello at the age of six at the Moscow Gnessin School for Young Talents, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree. At the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory he continued his studies with Valentin Feighin, where he obtained a master’s degree. In the USA, at the Oberlin Conservatory and at the Institute for Baroque Performance Practice in Ohio, he attended the master class for viola da gamba with Catharina Meints.

Sergei Istomin works as the first cellist with the Anima Eterna orchestra , performs with solo and chamber music programs , together with the fort pianists Viviana Sofronitsky , Jos van Immerseel and Claire Chevallier, as a trio with Midori Seiler and Jos van Immerseel and with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra .

In addition, Istomin performed at the Festival de Beaune , La Folle Journée de Nantes, Festival van Vlaanderen Bruges, Festival de Saint Requirer, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence , Festival de Wallonie , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Sopron Festival in Hungary .

His repertoire ranges from baroque music to classical and romantic music to new music . The Russian-French-Canadian musician currently lives in Belgium.
