Sergei Jurjewitsch Tetjuchin ( Russian Сергей Юрьевич Тетюхин , English transcription: Sergey Yuryevich Tetyukhin ; born September 23, 1975 in Fargʻona ) is a Russian volleyball player . He took part in six Olympic tournaments and won the gold medal in 2012, received many medals in other international competitions with the national team, was four times Champions League winner and won numerous national titles.
Career
Tetjuchin began his career with Krylja Vostoka and later played for Dynamo Tashkent , which was coached by his father Juri. In 1992 he moved to the Russian first division club VK Lokomotiv-Belogorje . The following year he made his debut in the Russian national junior team, with which he became European champion in 1994 and world champion in 1995. On May 11, 1996, the attacker had his first mission for the senior national team in Beijing . Shortly afterwards he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta and reached fourth place with the Russians. In Belgorod he won the Russian Cup four times in a row from 1995 to 1998 and the national championship in 1997 and 1998. The Russian national team reached the 1998 World League final with Tetjuchin and the 1999 World Cup victory . He then moved to the Italian first division promoted Maxicono Parma . In 2000 he experienced his second Olympic tournament after the final again in the world league ; this time Russia was only defeated in the final against Yugoslavia . In October 2000, he sustained serious injuries in a car accident in Parma and missed most of the following season because of the operations. After third place at the 2001 European Championships , he returned to Belgorod. In 2002 the club won the first of four successive championships. Tetjuchin celebrated victory in the world league with Russia and reached the final of the World Cup in Argentina against Brazil . In 2003 Belgorod managed to win the Champions League alongside the national double and Russia was third again at the European Championships in Germany . In 2004 Tetjuchin took part in the Olympic tournament for the third time after successfully defending his title in the Champions League and this time received the bronze medal. The following year Belgorod managed the double again. The outside attacker temporarily played beach volleyball in the summer before reporting back indoors at the 2005 European Championship , in which Russia reached the final against hosts Italy . In 2006 he moved to league rivals VK Zenit-Kazan . In the first season with the new club, he again managed the double in the championship and cup. At the European Championship in their own country , the Russians lost the final for the second time in a row. In 2008 Tetjuchin also won the Champions League with Kazan . His fourth Olympic tournament ended with a bronze medal again in Beijing. He then returned to Belgorod for one season and won the CEV Cup . The next two years he played again for Kazan, who became champions in 2010 and 2011 and also played in the 2011 Champions League final . Tetjuchin has played for Belgorod for the fourth time since 2011. In 2012 he won the gold medal with Russia at the Olympic Games in London . After winning the Russian double again in 2013, Tetjuchin won the Champions League with Belgorod in 2014 and became club world champion .
