Severino Batista de França OFMCap (born November 23, 1952 in Bezeros ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Nazaré .

Life

Severino Batista de França joined the religious order of the Capuchins , made his profession on December 8, 1967 and was ordained a priest on December 8, 1972 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Santarém and titular bishop of Hierpiniana on August 4, 2004 . The episcopal ordination donated to him the bishop of Afogados da Ingazeira , Luís Gonzaga Silva Pepeu OFMCap, on October 7th of the same year; Co- consecrators were José Carlos Melo CM , Archbishop of Maceió , and Lino Vombömmel OFM , Bishop of Santarém.

On March 7, 2007 he was appointed Bishop of Nazaré and on April 15 of the same year he was introduced to the office.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on November 25, 2015.
