Sevierville is a city with a status of " City " and the seat of the county seat of Sevier County in the US state of Tennessee with 16,011 inhabitants (2013).
geography
Sevierville is located in the Great Smoky Mountains , also known colloquially as the Smokies . Because of this location, the place calls itself Your hometown in the Smokies . The cities of Knoxville and Nashville are 35 and 300 kilometers to the west, respectively. The Interstate 40 as well as the French Broad River affect Sevierville in the north. The US Highway 441 runs through the town and is named in honor of the born there country singer Dolly Parton in town Dolly Parton Parkway called.
story
Sevierville was founded in 1795 and initially served as a stopover for travelers and a trading center. The name was chosen in honor of John Sevier , the first governor of the state of Tennessee. The official city was founded in 1901. After the place was appointed the administrative seat of Sevier County, other residents settled there.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park begins in the south of the city and is increasingly being developed for tourism because of its natural beauty. Another attraction is a NASCAR race track. Sevierville also has a number of museums, including a car museum , a knife museum and an aviation museum .
The Sevier County Courthouse has been added to the National Register of Historic Places . In front of the building is a bronze statue showing Dolly Parton. Many other historically valuable buildings have been preserved in the village and the surrounding area.

In 2013 a population of 16,011 people was determined, which means an increase of 36.2% compared to 2000. The median age of 37.7 in 2013 was on the order of Tennessee's 38.5 years.
