Shaolin ( Chinese  新少林寺 , Pinyin Xin Shaolin Sì , Jyutping San 1 Siu 3 lam 4 zi 2  - "New Shaolin Temple") is a Hong Kong-Chinese Action - / martial arts film from the year 2011 with Andy Lau and Nicholas Tse in the lead roles . Directed by Benny Chan . Shaolin is loosely based on the film Shaolin - Monastery of Avengers ( 少林寺 , Shàolín Sì , Jyutping Siu 3 lam 4 zi 2  - "Shaolin Temple") with Jet Li from 1982.

The feud of several warlords shakes the whole country. The monks of Shaolin - Temple take the injured and protect the poor and vulnerable. But there are more victims every day due to General Hou Jie, who is particularly brutal and does not differentiate between soldiers and civilians on his campaigns . When Hou is betrayed by his comrade Cao Man, he has to flee and hide in the monks' hidden mountain temple. During the time that Hou Jie spends there, he learns to appreciate the life of the monks, becomes more balanced and is well on the way to becoming peaceful. But Cao comes back. Determined to finally kill Hou, he drives the war to the temple of the Shaolin monks, so that they are forced to give up their neutrality and fight.

The film was with a budget of 30 million US dollars rotated. It was released in Germany on November 7, 2011 directly on DVD and Blu-ray. KSM holds the rights in Germany.
