ShapeShifter Lab
ShapeShifter Lab is a jazz music venue in Brooklyn, New York .
The ShapeShifter Lab is located between the Park Slope and Gowanus neighborhoods of Brooklyn (18 Whitwell Place, between 1st Street and Carroll Street) and was founded in mid-2012 by musicians Matthew Garrison and Fortuna Sung. There occurred u. a. Nels Cline , Tim Berne , Steve Coleman , George Colligan , Greg Osby , Josh Sinton and David Torn . The ShapeShifter Lab is part of what the New York Times said was a growing group of musician-owned Brooklyn venues in the 2010s, such as the nearby IBeam and Douglass Street Music Collective .
In Shapeshifter Lab , a series of workshops were held u. a. by Dave Douglas and Victor Wooten ; Studio recordings were also made (by Adam Rogers , Marko Djordjevic , Simon CF Yu and the band Snarky Puppy, among others ) and concert recordings by musicians such as Gordon Grina and Mark Helias .
