Douglass Street Music Collective

Douglass Street Music Collective is a jazz music venue in Brooklyn, New York .

The Douglass Street Music Collective venue (295 Douglass Street, near Third Avenue) is located in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The founders of the venue, which was created in the early 2000s, included u. a. Nicole Federici and Rob Garcia ; The Douglass Street Music Collective emerged from a music initiative that organizes workshops as well as concerts.

There occurred u. a. Katherine Young , Mike Pride , Anthony Braxton 's Tri-Centric Orchestra (2011) Sunna Gunnlaugs , Nate Wooley , Satoko Fujii / Natsuki Tamura , Angelika Niescier , Angelica Sanchez , Frank Gratkowski , the Empty Cage Quartet, Kris Davis , Andrew Drury , Ingrid Laubrock , Catherine Sikora on; there were also concert recordings a. a. by Thomas Heberer , Han-earl Park and Josh Sinton . The venue is part of what the New York Times said was a growing group of musician-owned Brooklyn venues in the 2010s, such as the nearby IBeam and ShapeShifter Lab . Josh Sinton has previously acted as curator.
