action

Shekhar comes from a good family and falls in love with the doctor Sharada. After a short time, however, Shekhar has to travel abroad. And so Sharada promises to wait for him. But then fate strikes: the news arrives that the plane in which Shekhar was also sitting has crashed.

Shekhar's father falls ill with worry, as do his three siblings. They are devotedly cared for by Sharada without her knowing that this is Shekhar's family. She becomes part of the family when she agrees to marry Shekhar's father, believing Shekhar is dead.

Suddenly Shekhar reappears as the only survivor. While searching for Sharada, he is told that she has married a rich widower. Completely disturbed, he makes his way home, where he is almost struck by a blow: the rich widower whom Sharada has taken as his husband is none other than his own father. Both are shocked to face each other. While Sharada is in control, Shekhar slowly succumbs to alcohol. Sharada makes every effort to catch Shekhar again and to marry him off to Chanchal. At first Shekhar refuses and cannot cope with the fact that his once lover has now become the stepmother.

After a while he does agree to marry Chanchal. Chanchal would also be overjoyed if she hadn't gotten wind of the tragic love story. This realization makes them jealous, which then leads to further complications. At the end of the drama, Sharada dies in Shekhar's arms.

criticism

(...) The comedy scenes that don't want to fit into the film and that seem forced. The predictability that results from the fatalistic structure of the story (especially in the second half). And the songs that lack catchy melodies. In view of the daring story, the merciless melodrama and the fabulous actors, all of this takes a back seat. (...) (from molodezhnaja.ch March 23, 2006)
