Shavarsh "Shavo" Odadjian ( Armenian Շավո Օդաջյան * 22. April 1974 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR ) is an American bass player of Armenian origin and a member of the Metal - band System of a Down .

Career

In his youth, Odadjian spent a lot of time skateboarding and listening to punk rock and heavy metal . His favorite bands are Slayer , The Punk Angle, Dead Kennedys , KISS and Black Sabbath .

He moved into the age of five from Armenia to Los Angeles , where he on Alex Pilibos High School went, an Armenian denominational school . There he met his future band members Daron Malakian and Serj Tankian for the first time , but he did not know them better at the time.

After meeting her in a recording studio in 1993, Odadjian was originally supposed to become the manager of the band Soil (not to be confused with SOiL ), which consisted of singer Tankian and guitarist Malakian. But when he decided to play bass in 1995, he became bassist for the band System of a Down .

Since System of a Down announced a creative break in 2006, Odadjian has been working on “Achozen”, a project with the Wu Tang clan rapper Robert Diggs . In addition to guest appearances on the Wu Tang Clan album 8 Diagrams , Odadjian was also involved in the Wu Tang Clan tour Rock the Bells 2007 . He worked on the soundtrack for the US film Babylon AD , which was released in August 2008.

Cinematic creation

Odadjian was in 1993 in the music video Big Gun from AC / DC to see. In 2001 he appeared in a short supporting role in the film Zoolander . He directed the System-of-a-Down videos for Aerials , BYOB , Toxicity , Question! and Hypnotize , the video for the Taproot song Mine and the Bad Brains song Give Thanks and Praises .
