The Shivnath is a left tributary of the Mahanadi in the Indian states of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra .

The river has its source in the village of Godari in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. On the upper reaches it is dammed by the Mongra dam . The Shivnath flows through Chhattisgarh in a predominantly northeastern direction. It flows south past Dongargaon and Rajnandgaon and west past Durg . 12 km above Shivrinarayan the river finally flows into the Mahanadi. The Shivnath has a length of 380 km. Important tributaries are Sukha Nala , Maniyari , Arpa and Lilagar from the left and Tandula and Kharun from the right.
