Shomu Mukherjee

Shomu Mukherjee ( Bengali সমু মুখার্জি Somu Mukhārjī ; actually Somdev Mukherjee ; born June 19, 1943 , † April 10, 2008 in Mumbai , Maharashtra ) was an Indian producer and director of Hindi films .

Life

He was the youngest son of the producer Sashadhar Mukerji , whose Filmalaya studio in the Mumbai district of Andheri he most recently directed together with his cousins Ram and Romu . His brothers Joy and Deb became actors.

Mukherjee made his debut as the producer of the film Ek Baar Muskura Do (1972). In addition to his brothers, Tanuja and their mother Shobhana Samarth also appeared in this film, directed by his cousin Ram Mukherjee. He made his own directorial debut a year later with Nannha Shikhari (1973). Like his other directorial works Fifty-Fifty (1981), Lover Boy (1985), Patthar Ke Insaan (1990) and Sangdil Sanam (1994), this had only moderate success. After Sangdil Sanam with Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala , Mukherjee withdrew from the active film business.

In 1973 he married Tanuja. Her two daughters Kajol and Tanisha became actresses. Mukherjee died of a heart attack.
