Shumi Dechasa

Leche Shumi Dechasa (born May 28, 1989 in Gimbicho ) is a Bahraini long-distance runner of Ethiopian origin.

Athletic career

Dechasa finished tenth in the Delhi half marathon in 1:01:38 hours in 2010 and sixth in 1:01:52 hours in the Stramilano . In 2012 he increased his half marathon best as second at Roma - Ostia to 59:51 minutes. In the same year he made his debut over the full distance in Hamburg and finished fourth in 2:07:56 hours. He finished the Amsterdam Marathon in thirteenth place in 2:13:50 hours.

In 2013, Dechasa finished second in the Seoul Marathon in 2:07:11 hours . In the following year he finished sixth in the Dubai Marathon in 2:07:13 hours and increased his best performance as the winner of the Hamburg Marathon to 2:06:43 hours. Since September 10, 2014 Dechasa has been allowed to start for Bahrain. In February 2015, he finished fourth in the Tokyo Marathon in 2:07:20 hours. At the World Championships in Beijing at the end of August, he finished fifth in the marathon race in 2:14:36 ​​hours.
