Sibel Özkan

Sibel Özkan (born March 3, 1988 in Afyonkarahisar ) is a Turkish weightlifter in the weight class up to 48 kg.

Career

At the Junior World Championships in Busan ( South Korea ) in 2005 , she achieved a top placement for the first time with 4th place. At the European Championships in Sofia in 2005 , she reached 6th place. At the European Championships in Strasbourg in 2006 , she reached 5th place. In 2007 she was Junior World Champion at the Junior World Championships 2007 in Prague and reached fourth place at the World Championships in Chiang Mai ( Thailand ). At the 2008 European Championships in Lignano she won the silver medal behind her teammate Nurcan Taylan in April 2008 . In Cali ( Colombia ) she was able to defend her junior world champion title at the Junior World Championships in June 2008.

doping

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , Özkan won the silver medal behind the Chinese and doping offender Chen Xiexia . In a subsequent test in 2016 Özkan was, however, even the doping with stanozolol transferred and their medal by the IOC stripped . Since her competitor Chen Xiexia had also been doped, the final result of this competition had to be completely rewritten.

Private

In July 2009 Özkan married the Turkish weightlifter Ömer Öz and also took his surname. In the same year the couple separated again.
