The Sibur Arena ( Russian Сибур Арена ) is a multi-purpose hall in the second largest Russian city ​​of Saint Petersburg . It is located on Krestowski Island on the Gulf of Finland in the immediate vicinity of the Gazprom Arena , the home ground of the Zenit St. Petersburg football club .

history

After construction started in June 2010, the arena was opened on September 11, 2013. There are 7120 seats in the tiers, which are arranged around the field for a good view. The multi-purpose hall is equipped for various sports such as basketball , volleyball , handball , tennis , boxing , mixed martial arts , futsal and badminton . The basketball court, according to the NBA standard, is made of maple wood . In addition, concerts , circus performances , theater performances as well as exhibitions , conferences or business events of all kinds take place. There are 12  VIP - boxes decorated with seating for nine to 44 people. In addition to the large arena, there is a training hall (1296 m²) with two separate playing fields (also maple wood, each 36 × 18 m) and four changing rooms. They are also used by youth teams. The complex also includes changing rooms and sanitary facilities for the teams, rooms for referees and officials, medical facilities with a doping control room , a press center, a fitness studio (285.5 m²), a restaurant with 70 seats and a view of the Gazprom Arena Café and buffet areas , a hotel with 28 rooms, free parking spaces, a dance hall (200 m²), a rehabilitation center with a swimming pool (20 × 9 m) and a Finnish sauna (13 people) as well as a Turkish hammam (13 people) and a sharko shower.

The basketball club BK Spartak Saint Petersburg has been based in the hall since 2013. BK Zenit Sankt Petersburg , (basketball), has been using the sports arena since 2014 . In 2017 the newly founded VC Zenit Saint Petersburg (volleyball) moved into the Sibur Arena as a venue. The men's ATP tennis tournament took place in the large SKK Peterburgski until 2015 and was then relocated to the Sibur Arena. The women's WTA tennis tournament, which has been taking place since 2016 , is also held here.
