Sidney Rae "Sid" Hinds (born May 14, 1900 in Newton ; † February 17, 1991 in San Antonio ) was an American marksman and brigadier general in the United States Army .
Career
Sidney Hinds took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris . With the free rifle he was in team competition together with Morris Fisher , Walter Stokes , Joseph Crockett and Raymond Coulter before the teams of France and Haiti's Olympic champion .
During the Games, Hinds, a professional soldier, held the rank of lieutenant . He had joined the US Army and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1920 . Hinds fought in the First and Second World Wars and received numerous medals and decorations. In 1947 he retired from active service with the rank of brigadier general .
