Siegfried Baumegger (born November 11, 1972 in Graz ) is an Austrian chess player and trainer.
Life
The state-certified chess trainer studied zoology in Graz.
successes
Siegfried Baumegger was twice Austrian national champion : 2001 in Mureck before Nikolaus Stanec and 2007 in Tweng before Markus Ragger . He won the state championship in rapid chess in 2006 in Sankt Georgen am Längsee . He won the Styrian state championship in 1997 at Palais Attems and in 2001, also in Graz. He won the Open Vienna Rapid Chess Championship as a guest player in 1999. He won the Lower Austrian State Championship in 2004 and 2005 in Gloggnitz . In February 1997 he won a Grandmaster tournament of the Honvéd Budapest chess club . In June 2000 he won the 3rd Vösendorfer Chess Open in Vösendorf Castle .
For the Austrian national team he took part in the Mitropa Cups in 1997, 1998, 2008 and 2010 as well as in the 2001 European Team Championship and the 1998 , 2002 and 2008 Chess Olympiads .
His first chess club was the club in the Styrian town of Pernegg an der Mur , in the Austrian state league he first played from 1993 to 1995 for Graz Tram , then from 1995 to 2006 for SC Admira Fürstenfeld , with whom he participated in the European Club Cups in 1998 and 2004 participated. From 2006 to 2011 he played for SK Advisory Invest Baden , with whom he won the Austrian team championship in the 2007/08 season , and has since played for the Vienna club Tschaturanga . He is a guest player at SK Purbach-Donnerskirchen . From the 2016/17 season he will strengthen the team of the Leoben chess club in the II. Bundesliga Mitte. He plays company sport in Austria for the 1st WBSC health club . From 1997 to 2000 he played for SV Plettenberg in the German federal chess league and the 2. Bundesliga West , in Hungary he played for Budapesti Titánok Sportegyesület in the 2015/16 season and for MTK Budapest in the 2019/20 season .
Since September 1997 he has held the title of International Master . He is in fifth place in the Austrian Elo ranking, which he led in July 1997 and January 1998. His Elo rating was subject to large fluctuations, so he was in January 1997 on the 27th place in the Austrian rankings before he gained 125 Elo points in July 1997, and fell back to the July 1998 with a loss of 135 points 27th place in the national ranking.
