Siegfried Kaiser (soccer player)
Siegfried Kaiser ( December 18, 1926 - November 17, 2019 ) was a German football player in Zwickau and Aue ; he completed an A international match for the GDR .
Athletic career
It was not until 1954 that Siegfried Kaiser made his first appearances in the league team of the first GDR soccer champions Motor Zwickau when he was 27 . On July 3, 1954, he was in the team that played the final of the GDR soccer cup . There he was called up as a center forward, but could not prevent the 1: 2 defeat against ZASK Vorwärts Berlin . Kaiser also played in this position in his only A international match on September 26, 1954, which was lost 1-0 to Poland in Rostock. After that Kaiser took the left wing position due to his speed and small body size. Especially since at Zwickau, Rainer Franz, a young and hopeful center forward, appeared more and more.
After 53 league games and 17 goals, Kaiser moved at the beginning of the 1957 season to the current GDR soccer champions, the district rivals SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt playing in Aue . Here, too, the little striker played in the left wing position. As a center forward, Willy Tröger was practically set. With 24 of 26 possible point games and six goals Kaiser ensured the successful title defense. He was also involved in the third Wismut championship in 1959, but was only able to play in 15 point games in which he scored three goals due to a serious injury he sustained in a friendly against the Vienna SK in August. Kaiser played his last competitive game for Wismut in the repetition of the cup final on December 13, 1959 against SC Dynamo Berlin , which the Wismut team lost 3-2. In the 65th minute Kaiser had achieved the interim 2-2 equalizer.
On February 15, 1960 the following message was published in the Karl-Marx-Städter daily newspaper Freie Presse :
- "The upper league collective of SC Wismut decided unanimously to exclude Siegfried Kaiser from the SC Wismut due to gross misconduct which grossly contradicts socialist morality."
Leske and Horn und Weise report in Encyclopedia of GDR Football and The Great Lexicon of GDR Football that the exclusion took place after Kaiser had already ended his football career due to a broken leg and left after Coburg in West Germany. In his three seasons at SC Wismut, Kaiser had played 58 times in the league team and scored 14 goals.
Kaiser lived in Neustadt near Coburg until his death . He passed away on November 17, 2019.
