Siegfried Kasparick

Siegfried Traugott Kasparick (born May 18, 1955 in Herzberg (Elster) ; † May 31, 2016 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Siegfried Kasparick was a son of pastor Gerhard Traugott Kasparick (1929–1985), who served in Schönewalde from 1955 to 1957 and then in Stendal . He studied Protestant theology in Naumburg , Berlin and Leipzig . After the vicariate in Freyburg (Unstrut) , Kasparick initially worked at what was then the church college, the Sprachenkonvikt in East Berlin . In 1986 he received his first pastor's position in Osterburg and has been superintendent of the Osterburg parish there since 1991. In 1993 he switched to the preachers' seminar of the Evangelical Church of the Union (EKU) in Brandenburg an der Havel .

At the end of 2001 the Synod of the Evangelical Church of the Church Province of Saxony elected him provost (regional bishop) of the Wittenberg district. Since then he has also acted as pastor of the Wittenberg Castle Church . From June to August 2009 he carried out the business of the regional bishop. In 2011 he was temporarily acting provost for the Halle-Naumburg district.

After the amalgamation of the districts Halle-Naumburg and Kurkreis Wittenberg to form the provost district Halle-Wittenberg as part of the formation of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany in 2012, Kasparick became the regional bishop Ilse Junkermann's representative for Reformation and ecumenism.

He died after a serious illness. The funeral service, in which Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff also took part, took place on June 9, 2016 in the Wittenberg Castle Church.

From 1980 Kasparick was married to the theologian Hanna Kasparick (* 1954), who was director of the Wittenberg seminary from 2005 to 2017 . They had two sons together.
