Siegfried Leberecht Crusius (born June 16, 1738 in Langenhessen , † October 1, 1824 in Leipzig ) was a German bookseller, publisher and later a farmer. He was the son of the pastor and master's degree Gottlieb Crusius and a great-grandson of the mayor of Chemnitz, Atlas Crusius .

After breaking off his studies, which he began in Leipzig in 1757, he bought Teubner's bookstore in 1765. Among other things, he published the works of the authors Samuel Hahnemann , Christian Gotthilf Salzmann , Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Widenmann , Johann Bernhard Basedow and Jean-François Marmontel , as well as Schiller's story of the fall of the united Netherlands from the Spanish government . His brothers Gottlieb Leberecht Crusius (1730–1804) and Carl Leberecht Crusius (1740–1779) provided illustrations as engravers for many of the published works.

In addition, Crusius was the first publisher for children's and youth magazines. These included Johann Christoph Adelung's Leipziger Wochenblatt für Kinder (1772–1774) and the correspondence of the family of the child friend (1775–1792) from Christian Felix Weisse .

The most famous apprentice in Crusius' publishing house was Georg Joachim Göschen , who was trained in the publishing house from 1768.

In 1805, Crusius inherited the Sahlis manor , and after buying the Rüdigsdorf manor (1810) he sold his bookstore and devoted himself to agriculture. After his old age, his son Wilhelm Crusius (1790-1858) inherited the property.

In the Leipzig district of Reudnitz , a street was named after him in 1894.

His family list is contained in the family list of his great-great-grandfather Balthasar Crusius .
