Siegfried Deficiencies (born April 11, 1937 in Penig ) is a German civil engineer , university professor and founding managing director of the planning company Bahnbau Deutsche Einheit (PBDE).

Life

Defects attended the Penig elementary school from 1943 to 1951, and the Rochlitz high school from 1951 to 1955 . In 1955 and 1956 a supplementary course followed in West Berlin.

Defects studied civil engineering at the TH Aachen from 1956 to 1962 . In 1962 and 1963 he was a research assistant at the Federal Highway Research Institute in Cologne . At RWTH Aachen University he was a research assistant at the Institute for Building Research in 1964 and, from 1965 to 1970, a research assistant at the Department of Building Materials Science .

After graduating as a graduate engineer, he later studied economics from 1967 to 1970 while working . He graduated with a degree in industrial engineering . In 1970 he was at the Philosophical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen on technical progress, growth and consolidation in the German cement industry for Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

Deficiencies was the managing director of the Readymix Group Germany and general representative of the Hammers Group Hamburg. Then he was director for construction and assembly at Bayer AG .

University professor

From 1982 onwards, he was an honorary professor at the TH Aachen. In January 1989 he was also formally appointed honorary professor at RWTH Aachen University for his services to teaching.

Management of the PBDE

After German reunification he was appointed managing director of the planning company Bahnbau Deutsche Einheit (PBDE).

In the course of a reorganization, the management around Siegfried Deficiencies was dismissed at the beginning of 1996 and the contracts that expired in 1996 were no longer extended. Observers saw an excessive pace of work, which ignored official structures, as a cause as well as the efforts of Deutsche Bahn AG to exert more influence on the PBDE. The DB group representative for Thuringia, Siegfried Knüpfer , was appointed the new spokesman for the PBDE management .

Further professional life

After retiring from the PBDE, he oversaw the construction of the ARD capital studio as well as projects at Theodor-Heuss-Platz and in Adlershof in Berlin .

Around 1998 he was head of the building management department at Sender Freie Berlin .

Private life

Defects is the father of two children and three grandchildren. He has lived in Schildgen near Cologne for 30 years . In 2005 he began to sketch special moments and later, to paint. In 2011 he opened a studio in Schildgen.

Awards

The Association of German Engineers awarded deficiencies the VDI Gold Medal of Honor in March 1994.

On December 15, 1995 he received the Great Silver Decoration of Honor of the Republic of Austria from the Austrian Consul General in Germany, Erwin Kubesch , for his close contacts with Austria Rail Engineering.
