Siegfried Messner

Siegfried Messner (born May 26, 1947 in Brixen ) is an Italian politician from South Tyrol .

biography

Messner, who lives in Teis , a fraction of Villnöß , studied history at the University of Innsbruck and then worked as a teacher. Messner was a member of the municipal council of his home parish from 1974 to 1978 and was subsequently involved in committees of the South Tyrolean People's Party , of which he was deputy party chairman from 1991 to 1994. From 1978 to 1988 Messner was for the first time a member of the South Tyrolean state parliament and thus at the same time in the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . In his first legislative term he was a member of the regional government as assessor for land registers , in his second legislative term he was a regional councilor for regional authorities and promotion of extracurricular youth work for the German ethnic group in the South Tyrolean provincial government ( Magnago VI cabinet ).

From 1990 to 1994 Messner was president of the Eisacktal district community . In 1994 he replaced Siegfried Brugger , who was running for the Italian House of Representatives , in the state parliament and regional council, to which he was a member until 2003. In the regional government Messner acted again until 1996 as assessor for land registers and land registry. From 1999 to 2001 he was Vice-President of the Regional Council, then President Secretary until the end of the 2003 legislative period.

In 2009 Messner was awarded the Tyrolean Cross of Merit.
