Siegfried Trommsdorff
Siegfried Trommsdorff (born June 3, 1902 in Erfurt , † December 8, 1975 in Heidelberg ) was a German politician in the Soviet Zone and state chairman of the CDU Thuringia .
Siegfried Trommsdorff was a self-employed gardener. In the Weimar Republic he was close to the DVP . As a supporter of the Confessing Church , he joined the CDU in August 1945 . From September 1945 he was chairman of the CDU Erfurt . From April 1947 he was deputy chairman of the CDU Thuringia, in October 1947 he was elected chairman. From October 1947 he was a member of the main board of the CDU at zone level and November / December 1947 and from October 1948 to June 1950 member of the CDU Political Committee.
After Hans Lukaschek was forced to flee to the West in 1946 , the SMAD called on Minister of Supply Georg Grosse to resign on February 14, 1948 . By March 5, 1948, 12 of the 25 district chairmen of the CDU had been deposed or forced to resign. At the state party congress from May 21 to 24, 1948, there was a battle vote for the state chairmanship. Georg Grosse, who acknowledged Jakob Kaiser , received 149 votes, Siegfried Trommsdorff only 69. The SMAD forbade Grosse to accept the office and Trommsdorff remained state chairman.
In the conflict over the participation of the Eastern CDU in the German People's Congress , Siegfried Trommsdorff spoke out in favor of participation. From March 1948 to October 1952 he was a member of the People's Council and the People's Chamber .
The conformity of the CDU, which had brought him to power, was now his undoing. In 1952 he was expelled from the Eastern CDU and his mandate was revoked. His successor as party chairman was August Bach . Siegfried Trommsdorff fled to the west.
