The Siemens Stiftung is a non-profit foundation that was established by Siemens AG in September 2008 .

history

The foundation was initiated by Peter Löscher in September 2008 as part of a corporate restructuring in order to bundle the company's social commitment .

The Siemens Stiftung is active in Latin America , Africa and Europe (with a focus on Germany ). In addition to the Siemens Stiftung based in Munich, there are currently six other Siemens corporate foundations in Argentina , Brazil , Denmark , France , Colombia and the USA .

On September 30, 2010, Siemens Stiftung joined the Transparent Civil Society Initiative . Nina Smidt has been the spokesperson for the board since 2020.

Goals and areas of work

According to the statutes, the Siemens Stiftung's goal is to “provide answers to global societal challenges.” The focus is on expanding basic services in developing and emerging countries , promoting education and strengthening culture v. a. as an operational partner in projects with cooperation partners.

The cooperation partners include the German Society for International Cooperation , the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development , the UN Environment Program , Engineering for Change, Intellecap, the Goethe Institute , the Foundation for Learning through Engagement, INNOVEC, MINT-EC , UNESCO Mexico and many renowned cultural institutions and Universities in Latin America and Africa.

  • Working area culture: The focus is on initiating projects for international exchange and knowledge transfer as well as setting up regional structures in the field of culture, especially in Africa and Latin America; The focus is on the performing arts and music .
