The Type 176 is a heavy lift cargo ship that the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde developed as the successor to the Type 161 . The successor to this series is the Type 183

history

The series was produced in four units from 2006 to 2009. The first two Type 176 ships were ordered on July 19, 2005, the other two on December 1, 2005 by the Hamburg shipping company SAL Heavy Lift . SAL Heavy Lift is a joint venture between the Heinrich / Rolner families and the Japanese shipping company “K” Line . The ships are mainly used in global heavy lift and project shipping.

technology

The ships in the series are powered by a MAN 9L58 / 64 diesel engine that acts on a controllable pitch propeller .

The hulls were assembled in sectional construction.

The 110.00 m long and 17.00 meters wide, mostly boxy cargo area with a capacity m³ of 18,000 is for the transport of containers and heavy reinforced and has numerous removable Scots , also known as steerage can be used in three different heights. Hatch covers reinforced with heavy cargo were used. On the last two ships in the series ( Trina and Regine ) the superstructure was raised by one deck to create additional chambers.

As with all heavy lift ships ordered by SAL, the two main cranes are prototypes from Neuenfelder Maschinenfabrik . They have a SWL of 700 t and were the most powerful tower cranes in the world when the ships were commissioned. The third crane has a SWL of 350 t and was also manufactured by NMF. All three cranes can also be driven on top.
