The type 9 is a swap-decker - coaster type of the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .
history
The series was ordered by various shipping companies and built from 1960 to 1966 in twelve units and two construction variants. Initially, the ships were mainly used for small and medium-sized voyages. Later the still existing ships of the type were found, partly extended and mostly without loading gear , worldwide in coastal voyages.
technology
Depending on the construction, the ships had two or three cargo holds with an intermediate deck . The type ship Anita-Adele , which was delivered in 1960 , still had two holds with a volume of 2412.7 m³ of grain space and 2077.8 m³ of ball space, while later type 9 ships had three holds with 2809.5 m³ of grain space and 2566.0 m³ of enlarged ball space and the Type 9b again had two cargo holds with an even larger cargo hold volume of 2917.2 m³ grain space and 2693.4 m³ ball space. Due to the largely undeveloped shape of the hold with little undercutting , this type of ship can also be used in cellulose or parcel wood transport. In addition, the ships of the type have a level tank ceiling through the continuous double floor (the type 9b had a recess in the tank ceiling of the front hold). Simple wooden hatch covers with seaworthy tarpaulin cover were used for the type ship , later units received MacGregor steel hatch covers. When it comes to loading gear , the units in the series differed. The type ship was equipped with eight cargo booms with a lifting capacity of three tons each, later ships often received six cargo booms also with three tons lifting capacity. Some ships, such as the Marie Rüsch or the Canopus , were provided with four or three mast cranes.
The ships in the series are powered by four-stroke diesel engines from various manufacturers, which in the majority of ships act on a fixed propeller .
