Sigismund Rudolf von Waldow , also Siegmund Rudolph von Waldau , (* 1672 ; † July 13, 1735 in Hamm ) was a Prussian major general , chief of the regiment named after him "Waldow on foot" and heir of Gottberg and Hasselbusch .

Life

origin

He was the son of Joachim von Waldow , the heir to Hasselbusch.

Military career

Waldow joined the Brandenburg Army in 1693 as a simple soldier . In 1700 he became an ensign in the regiment "Prince Philipp Wilhelm" . He fought in the War of the Spanish Succession for the now royal Prussian army in the battle of Hochstädt and Cassano . Waldow also took part in the siege of Kaiserswerth and the relief of Turin . In the further course of his military career he became a lieutenant colonel on October 6, 1713 . In 1715 he took over the regiment because the previous commander von Platen had died and Prince Heinrich was still a minor. In 1719 he was promoted to colonel . In 1732 he was appointed major general and chief of the defunct regiment "Schliewitz on foot".

He died in Hamm on July 13, 1735.
