Sign of the Hammer ( English for " sign of the hammer ") is the fourth studio album of American True Metal band Manowar .

Emergence

Already six months after the release of the previous work Hail to England Manowar had recorded a new album. In the meantime, however, they had lost their record deal with Music for Nations and had to publish the successor on 10 records. Virgin took over the distribution. A European tour followed the album's release. The record deal lasted until 1986.

Like its predecessor, the album was produced by Jack Richardson.

Song information

  • The opening song All Men Play on Ten can be seen ambiguously: On the one hand this album was released on "10 Records" and on the other hand 10 is the highest level of the Marshall amplifier used by Manowar . The song was also released as a single , but could not record any significant success. B-side was the album track Mountains .
  • Thor (The Powerhead) is about the Norse god Thor . Norse mythology is a topic that Manowar take up quite often and to which they have dedicated a concept album with Gods of War .
  • Thunderpick is a bass instrument from DeMaio.
  • Guyana (Cult of the Damned) is a song about the mass suicide of Jim Jones ' sect Peoples Temple in 1978 in Jonestown , northwest Guyana .
