Fighting the World is the fifth studio album by the US true metal band Manowar and was released on May 14, 1987.

Emergence

Shortly after the release of Sign of the Hammer , Manowar lost their recording deal with 10 Records. The search for a record company turned out to be difficult, only after a year and a half did the band find what they were looking for on the major label Atlantic Records . The connection to a major label benefited the production: Fighting the World is much better produced than the previous albums. It was the first metal album to be recorded entirely digitally, which, according to Marc Halupczok of the German Metal Hammer, "had a natural effect on the sound," and according to Manowar singer Eric Adams it represents the birth of a new metal sound. Worldwide distribution finally made the breakthrough possible for the band.

All titles are written by Joey DeMaio. The illustrations on the cover were created by Ken Kelly , who has been responsible for the illustrations since this album.

In 2008 guitarist Ross “The Boss” Friedman , a member of the Fighting-the-World line-up , accused that the drums on the album had been recorded with a drum computer , which is why the nominal drummer Scott Columbus never stayed in the studio during the recording have.
