Double Take ( Double Take ) is an American film comedy by George Gallo from the year 2001 . The screenplay is based on the story Across the Bridge by Graham Greene , which was filmed in 1957 .

Daryl Chase works as an investment banker for a New York company. One day he is stolen from the petty criminal Freddy Tiffany, but later receives his money back. Since then, Tiffany has followed the finance manager, even visiting him in his office.
Chase discovers that one of his clients, who deposited $ 106 million in investment capital, is a front company. He finds his secretary murdered, the arriving police officers are shot by the killer. Chase escapes and goes into hiding.
The CIA is interested in Chase's alleged contacts with the Mexican drug dealers. Chase goes to Mexico , where he meets Freddy Tiffany again, who says he works for the FBI . Chase depends on Tiffany, travels on Tiffany's name, and finds that this man is wanted for the murder of a Mexican politician.
The CIA agents kidnap Chloe, Chase's girlfriend. She is taken to the house of a Mexican drug lord, where Chase and Tiffany, who are now working together, appear. It turns out that the drug lord wants to hand over the corrupt CIA agents as well as Chase's boss to the US judicial authorities. There is a shootout, special forces advance, the criminals are arrested. Among the security forces is Chase's secretary, who turns out to be an FBI agent. Her death was just a fake.
Chase, Chloe, Tiffany and his girlfriend become friends. They spend free time together on the beach.

The lexicon of the international film wrote that the thriller “ solid ” in the literature would “ not do justice ” to the original because of the elements of a “ slapstick comedy ”. For this reason, the film fails despite " original actors ".
