Sigrid Grabner

Sigrid Grabner (born October 29, 1942 in Tetschen-Bodenbach ) is a German writer.

Life

Sigrid Grabner was born as Sigrid Hauf in the Sudeten German twin town of Tetschen-Bodenbach on the Elbe . After the expulsion, she grew up in Merseburg from 1947 , where she attended school until 1957. After graduating from high school in Halle , she went into agriculture for a year in 1961. From 1962 to 1967 she studied cultural studies and Indonesian studies at the Humboldt University in East Berlin . In 1972, she was here with a thesis on Indonesian culture policy during the Sukarno dictatorship in the doctorate . Sigrid Grabner has been working as a freelance writer since 1974. In theGDR she was spied on by the State Security as an alleged CIA agent .

Sigrid Grabner lives in Potsdam . In the 1990s she headed the Brandenburg Literature Office, which she co-founded .

She was married to the writer and concentration camp survivor Hasso Grabner and has two grown children.
