Sigrid Neubert

Sigrid Neubert (born September 4, 1927 in Tübingen ; † October 13, 2018 ) was a German photographer who became known primarily in the field of architectural photography .

Neubert was the daughter of the doctor and later anatomy professor Kurt Neubert and completed her training at the Bavarian State Institute for Photography , which she completed in 1954 with the master's examination. After initial professional experience with photography for the ceramic industry and glass companies ( Rosenthal Porcelain, Gralglas Dürnau), she turned to architectural photography , with which she quickly achieved great success. For German architects such as Kurt Ackermann, Günter Behnisch , Betz Architekten , Alexander von Branca , Hans-Busso von Busse , Herbert Groethuysen , Hans Maurer , Paolo Nestler , Franz Riepl , Karl Schwanzer , Werner Wirsing and others. a. From 1955 it took on numerous important new buildings. Commissioned trips took her to Africa and South America.

In addition to architectural photography, she began working on freely chosen subjects in nature in 1968, to which she then exclusively devoted herself from 1990 to 2007. From 1953 on, Sigrid Neubert's recordings were published in architecture and other specialist magazines and were later shown in exhibitions at home and abroad. Her publications about the Nymphenburg Palace Park became known . In 1992 she was awarded the Schwabing Art Prize.

Sigrid Neubert last lived near Berlin. She died in October 2018 at the age of 91. She was able to witness the opening of the major retrospective on her work in the Berlin Museum of Photography a few months before her death.
