Performing in tournaments

Zimbabwe was invited by FIFA in 1989 to take part in the first ever Futsal World Cup in the Netherlands. In a group with Italy, the United States and Australia you finished the preliminary round after three defeats on the bottom of the table. Until the next international appearance of a Zimbabwean futsal team, it was not until 1996 when a team took part in the African Championship, which also served as a qualifying tournament for the World Cup. With two wins, one draw and one defeat, they finished the group of five in third place and thus missed qualifying for the World Cup. In 2012, the team took part in A internationals for the third time.
