from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon Nestler (born July 3, 1983 in Munich ) is a German computer scientist and teaches as professor for human-computer interaction at the Technical University of Ingolstadt .

Career

Nestler grew up in Munich , after graduating from high school in Fürstenried , studied computer science at the Technical University of Munich and graduated in 2006 with a degree in computer science . He then worked as a research assistant in the Research Group Augmented Reality , where he in 2010 with a dissertation on "design, implementation and evaluation of user interfaces for life-threatening, time-critical and unstable situations" at Gudrun Klinker to Dr. rer. nat. in computer science . During his tenure , he was also a member of the International Graduate School of Science and Engineering ( IGSSE ), where he took part in the Research Training Program to promote top interdisciplinary research in the natural and engineering sciences. After completing his doctorate, Nestler worked as a user experience designer at IntraWorlds. In November 2011, he followed the call to a professorship in human-computer interaction at the Hamm-Lippstadt University , since the summer semester 2019 he teaches at the Technical University of Ingolstadt .

Simon Nestler's research focus is on safety-critical human-computer interaction. He focuses on the use of interactive systems by users who are in cognitively demanding primary tasks. As part of his previous research activities, he has designed and developed interactive systems for drivers that support them immediately before critical situations. Mobile solutions he developed for rescue workers have simplified the implementation of triage processes in disasters . In addition, he has developed collaborative multi-touch solutions with which emergency services can be better prepared for major incidents. Nestler is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery , the ACM SIGCHI , the Gesellschaft für Informatik and the German UPA .

At the Technical University of Munich and at the HSHL , Nestler worked on research projects of the federal government and industry, such as:

  • Investigation of mobile and self-organizing communication and data platforms as well as uniform and cross-service organization and action strategies for complex large- scale locations ( SpeedUp project ).
  • Intercommunal concepts to strengthen the resilience of metropolitan areas ( Interkom project ).
  • Intelligent Support for Prospective Action ( ISPA project ).

He is married and has a daughter.
