A paradise for sailors and surfers |
The Singliser See is an artificial lake northeast of Borken in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse , Germany , which was created in the course of lignite mining in the Borken lignite district . It lies between the Borken districts of Gombeth and Singlis .
The Singliser See lies in the West Hessian depression and, together with the Gombether See , is an important resting place for migratory birds in this area .
Originating from the former open- cast lignite mine, the Singlis mine (funding period from 1961 to 1972), the Singliser See was created in the course of recultivation from 1972 to 1980. With a pH of around 4, the lake is geogenically acidic and has a high concentration of sulphate.
Due to rising groundwater, after the end of the mining of lignite , the opencast mine became a lake that is used for tourism within the framework of the Borken Lake District. There is a large parking lot with parking ticket machines on the south bank and on the northwest bank. A short path leads to the grassy bank.
Initially, his entire water surface was a. be used as a surfing area. In the northern shallow water, however, some trees were not cleared before the flooding, so that water sports were not possible. Soon water birds settled there. As a result, this area including a wide protective strip (in fact the entire north bank and approx. 1/5 of the entire water surface) was defined as a nature reserve by the "Hazard Defense Ordinance for the Singliser See" of March 25, 2010 , although this is only a few kilometers away Borkener See nature reserve with a water surface almost twice as large and a total size of approx. 350 hectares. It has not yet been decided whether the resulting Gombether See will compensate for this, possibly even by means of a planned summary.
In 2019, Uniper sold the lake to a regional consortium.
On the southeastern shore has the Marine camaraderie a coast guard boat of the type 18 KW expanded to their clubhouse. There is also a pedal boat rental and a beer garden.
