Sinimbu , officially Portuguese Município de Sinimbu , is a municipality in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul .
The population was estimated as of July 1, 2019 at 10,172 inhabitants, who live on a municipality area of around 510 km² and are called Sinimbuenses ( sinimbuenses ). The majority of the population lives in rural areas. The parish ranks 165th of the state's 497 municipalities. The capital Porto Alegre is 169 km away. The city is heavily influenced by German immigrants.
The place is named after Count João Lins Vieira Cansanção de Sinimbu , former president of the Rio Grande do Sul province .
