Sint Maartenszee ( St. Maartenszee for short ) is a village in the municipality of Schagen (until the end of 2012 Zijpe ) in the province of North Holland . It is located north of Petten and south of Callantsoog on the North Sea and lives mainly from tourism. Only about 80 people live permanently in the village along the Zeeweg and Westerduinweg streets .
The village is located near Sint Maartensvlotbrug and on the edge of the nature reserve "Het Wildrijk", which is known for its wild hyacinths and for the "Duinrellenproject" started in 2010, which supplies the area with clean water from the dunes .
There are numerous campsites and bungalow parks on the border with Sint Maartensvlotbrug and directly in the village. The nature reserve " Zwanenwater " extends north of St. Maartenszee and extends to Callantsoog. One of the largest natural beach lakes in Europe is located here.
There is also the amusement park “De Goudvis” and the disco “Dansen bij Franssen” in the village .
