Ski (Norway)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ski is a former Norwegian municipality in the former Fylke Akershus , now Viken . The seat of the administration was in the village of the same name. The city of “Ski” is about 20 km south of Oslo. The name "Ski" is derived from the old form "Skeide", which in turn comes from the word "Skeid". “Skeid” means: a place where races are held. The three horse heads in the municipal coat of arms symbolized this origin.

On January 1, 2020, Ski was transferred to the newly founded municipality of Nordre Follo .
