Slava Kerber

Slawa Kerber (born September 28, 1986 ) is a German boxer .

Career

Slawa (Wjatscheslaw) Kerber is a member of the Blau-Weiß Lohne sports club in Lower Saxony . He is trained there by Sergei Markin. He is southpaw and has an unorthodox boxing style with which he has caused great difficulties for many opponents. He works in the automotive industry.

For the first time he drew attention to himself at the German Junior Championship (Cadets) in 2003 in Wismar , where he took 2nd place in his weight class. At the German senior championship in 2006 in Straubing , he reached the final fight in light welterweight (up to 64 kg body weight), in which he lost to Enrico Wagner just on points (26:31).

At the German championship in 2007 in Wolfenbüttel he lost in the quarter-finals against Steven Schwan from Punching Magdeburg extremely narrowly with 25:26 goals and only came in 5th place. In the same year he had his first appearance at the Chemistry Cup in Halle in a strong international tournament. He did very well there, defeating Frenchman Alexis Vastine clearly on points in the quarterfinals (32:23). Vastine then won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics after a controversial semi-final loss to Félix Díaz . In the semifinals of the chemistry cup tournament he lost to the two-time world champion Serik Säpijew from Kazakhstan after a courageous fight on points (9:16).

At the German championship of 2008, which took place again in Straubing , he fought his way to the final, in which he was narrowly defeated by the more experienced Harun Sipahi from Wolfenbüttel with 12:13 hits. As a reward for his good performance, he was then nominated by the DABV for the European Championships to be held in Liverpool in November 2008 . By the start of the German championship in 2008, Slawa Kerber had played 104 fights (63 wins, 6 draws, 35 defeats).

At the European Championships in Liverpool , Slawa Kerber won over Christofer Evangelou, Cyprus (10: 3) and Boris Katilinic, Croatia (7: 2) on points, but lost to Eduard Hambardsumjan from Armenia on points (4:11) in the quarter-finals 5th place. In 2009, 2011 and 2012 Slawa Kerber failed to win a title at the national championships, so he was no longer nominated for any international championships.

At the Round Robin Team Tournament in Halmstad in May 2011 he defeated the Swedes Salah Nazer Taha (15: 9), Leon Chartoy (19:15) and Sharif Abdaljan (9: 6) in the welterweight division on points.

In the 2012/2013 season Kerber started for the German Eagels in the World Series of Boxing , but lost his only fight against the silver medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games, Fred Evans , Wales (3-0).
