Smolnik (Ukrainian Смільник ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the Lutowiska municipality in the powiat Bieszczadzki of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is located on the Smolnik stream in the Bieszczady in the so-called Bojkenland .

history

The place was founded around 1532 under Wallachian law and was first mentioned in a document in the tax register of the Sanoken country in 1589. The Orthodox Church was built shortly thereafter.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Smolnik became part of the new kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1900 the community of Smolnik ad Lutowiska had 60 houses with 473 inhabitants, 458 of them Ruthenian-speaking, 15 Polish-speaking, 421 Greek-Catholic, 15 Roman-Catholic, 37 Jews.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Smolnik came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it first belonged to the Soviet Union and from 1941 to the General Government. In the years 1945–1951 it belonged again to the Soviet Union (see Polish-Soviet Territorial Exchange ). The residents were resettled in the Lviv area . The settlement remained uninhabited and the buildings were demolished. The modern development is over 1 kilometer to the north.

From 1975 to 1998 Smolnik was part of the Krosno Voivodeship .
